Persistent watch
Long-endurance VTOL aircraft support broad search areas and extended observation with fewer recoveries.

Surveillance & ISR systems
Persistent wide-area observation, rapid thermal response, specialist payload work and repeatable site coverage are different operating problems. This guide compares the platforms by mission fit—without reducing the decision to a single specification.
Start with the requirement
Coverage, persistence, sensor type, deployment time, connectivity, data governance and aviation approvals shape the right solution.
Drone Solutions Malawi can help public institutions, infrastructure owners, conservation teams and authorised security organisations evaluate the aircraft, payload, software, operator readiness and support model together.
Four operating patterns
There is no universal “best surveillance drone.” The best fit is the system that produces useful, lawful information at the required tempo.
Long-endurance VTOL aircraft support broad search areas and extended observation with fewer recoveries.
Compact multi-sensor aircraft can put visible and thermal context over an incident quickly.
Configurable enterprise platforms earn their place when the sensor or integration defines the mission.
Dock systems suit defined sites that need scheduled observation and remotely managed tasking.
At-a-glance comparison

Long-endurance electric tiltrotor VTOL
ARACE positions Phoenix for demanding long-range surveillance and large-area mapping. The electric tiltrotor combines vertical take-off and landing with manufacturer-stated endurance of up to six hours and a recommended payload up to 2 kg.

Long-range fixed-wing VTOL
DeltaQuad Evo Tactical combines fixed-wing efficiency with vertical take-off and landing. Its dual payload bays support simultaneous sensors or an auxiliary battery, making it relevant where long-range observation and adaptable payload integration are central to the programme.
Compact multi-sensor enterprise drone
Matrice 4T packages multiple sensors into a compact aircraft that can be deployed quickly. It is best considered when portability, thermal context, zoom and an integrated enterprise workflow matter more than fixed-wing endurance.
Heavy-payload enterprise platform
Matrice 400 is a configurable enterprise aircraft rather than an integrated surveillance camera. Its value is the ability to combine compatible payloads around a defined inspection, mapping or situational-awareness workflow.
Remote drone operation system
Dock 3 combines a weather-rated dock, a Matrice 4D-series aircraft and FlightHub 2. It is relevant when a site needs repeatable missions, remote tasking and managed fleet visibility—not simply a drone stored outdoors.
Dock-compatible thermal aircraft
Matrice 4TD is the thermal aircraft in the Matrice 4D Series. It should be evaluated as part of a Dock 3 site system, with connectivity, power, procedures, maintenance and permissions designed together.
Responsible deployment
Every programme should define purpose, authority, airspace permissions, privacy controls, data access, retention, operator competence and maintenance before deployment. We do not treat surveillance hardware as a substitute for governance.

All surveillance, ISR, search, public-safety and remote operations must comply with applicable Malawi law, aviation approvals, privacy requirements and organisational authority. Performance figures are manufacturer maximums under defined conditions and vary with payload, weather, altitude, communications, battery condition and mission design.
